What are QR Codes and why must I download QR Code software?

QR codes are those little squares with black and white boxes in them. You often find QR Codes in advertising and other markets.
We, at the Pittsford Cemetery, are beginning to install QR Codes for our most interesting "residents". When you decode one of our
QR Codes, biographical data is revealed to you on a second web page..

Some of the newer phones come with the decoding software already loaded. Simply aim your camera. (See the instructions directly below on the left.) Older phones and some other devices do not come pre-loaded with the software and for this reason you must download QR Code readers to decode the contents of any QR Code you may come across. Directly below, on the right, are some basic steps to help you get started. NOTE: (Make sure you have a mobile signal or you are connected to Wi-Fi)


 

...on an iPhone or an iPad

 

...on an Android Phone or Device

 

1. Open up the camera app on your iPhone or iPad
2. Hold the device's camera up to the QR Code
3. There is no need to hit the shutter button, your iOS device will automatically recognize the QR Code and provide you with an on-screen notification.
4. Tap the notification to be taken to the URL destination of the QR Code where the full bio of the individual will be displayed.

 

1. Open your mobile app store
    (App Store, Google Play, Windows Marketplace, etc.)
2. Search for QR Code Reader
3. Tap QR Code Reader (by Scan)
4. Tap Install
5. Tap Accept

When you have the QR Code Reader on your device:
1. Open QR Code Reader application
2. Line up the QR code in the camera's view finder
3. A new web page will either open automatically displaying
    the full bio OR tap OK to go to the URL
